A COMMUNITY policing campaign has been hailed by the public a year after it was launched across the force area.
In particular, Lothian and Borders Police highlighted the close working relationship between officers in Penicuik and the town’s crime prevention panel.
In September 2010, Chief Constable David Strang launched its Community Commitment pledge in Pathhead. The focus was to improve engagement between the police, local residents and businesses. A key aim was to encourage the public to identify issues which greatly impacted on the community and bring them to the attention of officers.
In Midlothian, officers have engaged closely and more frequently with Penicuik Crime Prevention Panel and have been able to identify several issues which required joint intervention.
