Fire crews were called to a major blaze at a pub in Mayfield in the early hours of Thursday. February 5.
Emergency services responded to reports of a fire at the Rowan Tree Inn, Eskview Road, Mayfield, at around 3am, where the fire service tackled the blaze.
This is being treated as a wilful fire-raising, and police and the fire service are continuing their enquiries to establish the circumstances of the fire.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact Police Scotland on 101.
The Fire Brigade received a call at 2.53am and had crews from Dalkeith, Musselburgh and Newtongrange attend the fire.
They got to work with four breathing apparatus, a line of hose and a high pressure reel. An extension lead and a thermal imaging camera were also used to make sure no more fire spread throughout the building.
Police and an ambulance crew were also in attendance at the pub.
It had been reported that someone might be in the pub but nobody was found and there was no one injured in the fire.
A fire investigation team attended later in the day with police to determine the cause of the fire.
