Police welcome sentence

POLICE have welcomed the incarceration of a West Lothian drugs gang ringleader.

The Evening News revealed yesterday how 31-year-old Adnan Ul-Haq had been imprisoned for nine years after being caught by a major undercover operation.

He had already served time, and was running the gang while working in his family’s Cost- cutter store in Blackburn.

The Livingston man was arrested along with five others as part of the sting, with four having been sentenced.

Today, Detective Chief Inspector Sean Scott said: “Lothian and Borders Police continue to gather intelligence on those involved in serious or organised crime and will utilise all resources at our disposal to bring these individuals to justice.

“Adnan Ul-Haq and his associates were responsible for plaguing our communities with class A drugs and, thanks to the assistance and support of the public, we have been able to shut down their operations and ensure they spend a lengthy time behind bars.”
