Midlothian electorate increases

Midlothian is one of a number of areas which has seen its number of independence referendum voters increase.

Electoral Registration Officers across Scotland released an updated list of electorate figures.

Midlothian’s eligible electorate now stands at 69,617 - four voters more than previously announced. The number of postal voters has also been amended to 13,709 - 38 more.

The updated figures include clerical adjustments as EROs review the polling list to ensure everyone who is eligible to vote is on the list. Adjustments can be made up until 9pm.

The polls close at 10pm with Midlothian’s result expected about 3.30am. The national result is expected tomorrow morning.
