MSP praises transport card

A NEW card to help people have difficulty using public transport because of age, disability or illness has been hailed by a city MSP.

The credit card-sized SEStran Thistle Assistance Card comes with special peel-off stickers indicating different types of disabilities or help a passenger may need. These can then be attached to the card, which is shown to the bus driver when boarding.

Edinburgh Pentlands SNP MSP Gordon MacDonald has tabled a motion in the Scottish Parliament congratulating SEStran on the initiative.

The card is supported by a wide range of voluntary organisations and most bus firms.
