ARE wind farms a powerful statement of Scotland’s commitment to renewable energy or an unsightly, uneconomic blight on the landscape?

The proliferation of onshore wind farms has fuelled a heated debate on their efficiency and visual impact.

But the issue of large turbines being planted as farms in the countryside and on the periphery of towns has split public opinion, especially in Midlothian.
