A NUMBER of Lothian cancer patients are being offered the chance of having an audio recording of their life-changing conversation with the consultant.
NHS Lothian is pioneering a project to help new cancer patients understand their diagnosis and treatment options. The initiative will involve men with early prostate cancer attending the Western General Hospital, Edinburgh.
Consultant urologist Alan McNeill, who is leading the pilot project, said the recordings would allow men to go back over the consultation and listen again to bits that they may feel confused or unsure about.
The project is being supported by the Edinburgh and Lothian Prostate Cancer Support Group.
