Pupils bag music lesson from pipers

PUPILS at a primary school in Leith have been treated to a concert by the Royal Scots’ pipers.

The pipers – from The Highlanders, 4th Battalion the Royal Regiment of Scotland (4 SCOTS) – performed to children at St Mary’s RC Primary School on Thursday, although youngster Jamie Buglass, six, wasn’t entirely happy with the playing of Corporal Andy Reid and Corporal Colin Simpson.

Some of the older pupils were then given the chance to take part in musical workshops.

Headteacher Stephen Gilhooley said: “They did a full concert for the whole school and then timetabled classes from primary four to seven and taught them how to do a couple of notes on the chanter, and some drumming.”
