Race is on for 20mph zones

HUNDREDS of people have signed a petition calling for streets in parts of East Lothian to be made into 20mph zones.

Residents in Cockenzie and Port Seton have been backed by local MP Fiona O’Donnell and MSP Iain Gray and are set to meet council leaders to discuss the plans.

Isobel Robertson, who is spearheading the campaign, said: “It’s early days but 99 per cent of the people I have spoken to have been supportive, particularly young mums.

“It surprised me how many people do see this as needed and worthwhile.

“The campaign is all about the places where people live, work and play, which would cover the whole of Port Seton and Cockenzie.”
