Repairs put back to save Midlothian Council cash

Maintenance of public buildings is to be reduced after the council agreed to take £250,000 out of its property maintenance budget.

Savings will be made in the financial years 2016/17 and 2017/18, and will result in council buildings and offices being painted and repaired less frequently.

The impact, according to council officers, could detrimentally affect the local authority’s property portfolio.
