Midlothian Council is to increase charges for collecting waste from businesses.
At a full council meeting last week, councillors agreed to increase charges to trade customers by on average ten per cent.
The charges are to recover increased costs of collecting and disposing of commercial waste, including tipping fees and vehicle running costs.
Landfill Tax is also set to increase until it reaches £80.93 a ton in 2016/2017.
The council will work with trade customers to increase recycling in line with new Zero Waste legislation and Scottish Government recycling target of 70 per cent by 2025.
The increased charges, the first since 2014/15, will begin on April 1, 2016.
