Road death sparks speed limit call

TRIBUTES have been paid to a trainee surgeon, who was killed in a horrific road accident in Midlothian last week.

Sarah Laftavi, from Loanhead, suffered fatal injuries when her car collided with a double decker Lothian Bus on Lasswade Road at around 7pm on Thursday evening.

She was driving her Volkswagen Passat on the southbound carriageway when the accident happened and the force of the impact split her car in two.

Pat Kenny, chairman of Loanhead and District Community Council, has called for a reduction in the speed limit on a road that has claimed three lives since 2009.
