A heartbroken dog owner has been journeying back to woods near Dalkeith where her beloved pet went missing on Christmas Day.
Raised in Eskbank and now living in Edinburgh, Janeanne Gilchrist (40) was walking her three rescue dogs through Newbattle Woods at around lunchtime when Jeff, a Parson Jack Russell, disappeared.
The freelance photographer and her pets had startled a deer, and she believes that Jeff must have taken off after it.
“I assume that’s what happened because he has previous for chasing wild animals,” she said.
White with brown circles around his eyes and ears, Jeff was last seen wearing a blue collar.
A reward is offered for his safe return.
In October the Advertiser reported that a Border Collie had been reunited with its owner after living in Newbattle Woods for ten weeks.
