Second Midlothian arts, culture and music festival backed by council

Following the success of last year’s inaugural Midfest, Midlothian Council has backed plans for a repeat performance this year.

At a cabinet meeting in Dalkeith, councillors agreed to support a Midfest 2014, subject to funding being secured.

The council had earlier met with Creative Scotland, which recommended an appropriate funding source to apply to, while a work placement student from Queen Margaret University has volunteered to help support such activity.

Last year’s festival of arts, culture and music pulled in £5,467, while expenditure was £14,691.
