Serial offender claims he was stabbed with own blade

A SERIAL offender who starred in a TV documentary about clashes with police has told a jury he had become a victim of crime himself.

Scott Gibson, who featured as “Wogs” in the 1990s BBC film The Dedridge Cowboys, claimed he was stabbed in the back with his own knife.

Mr Gibson, now aged 41, alleged that 19-year-old Kevin Ellis had stolen property including fishing knives and two swords from his home in Livingston, West Lothian.

He told Livingston Sheriff Court he and his brothers found Ellis the next day and drove him to his mum’s house in Dedridge, where they thought the stolen possessions might be hidden.

But when they arrived Mr Gibson said his brothers became involved in a scuffle with the accused’s relatives.

Mr Gibson said he saw Ellis opening a knife which he recognised as his own. He said Ellis then chased him around the car and stabbed him twice in the back.

Under cross-examination, Mr Gibson said he told the police lies at first because he “didn’t want to grass”. He claimed it was only after Ellis called police to claim he had been abducted and assaulted that he changed his story.

Ellis, of Livingston, denies assaulting Mr Gibson to his severe injury while acting with others.

The trial continues.
