Sherlock strikes a chord

TALENTED Armenian violinist Ani Batikian performed with the “Sherlock” violin at a Scottish Parliament reception ahead of the official United Nations Year of Forests – Concert for Trees next month.

She performed on the Garden Lobby steps on Wednesday with a backdrop of birds made by Dalry Primary pupils. The Sherlock violin was created by Edinburgh violin maker Steve Burnett from a tree that grew in the grounds of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s childhood home in Liberton Bank House.

The United Nations Year of Forests – Concert for Trees will be held at the Usher Hall on November 26.
