Signal failure causes chaos

THOUSANDS of rail commuters suffered five hours of disruption after signalling problems led to the cancellation of a number of services.

Trains between Edinburgh and Bathgate, and Edinburgh and Glasgow were disrupted due to signalling problems at Newbridge junction, near Edinburgh Park station, shortly after 5pm yesterday.

A spokesman for Network Rail said there were five cancellations and 19 “part cancellations”, where commuters were offered replacement bus services from Waverley.
