Small offices win favour

Smaller open-plan offices remain the most popular among businesses in Edinburgh, according to a new report.

Property firm Ryden’s Scottish Property Review for October said that 66,646 square metres of office space was taken up in the six months to September, down 29 per cent since March.

The report said that demand for larger offices above 929 sq m was “slower than anticipated”, with seven transactions at that scale completed, including FNZ at Tanfield, Amazon’s expansion at Waverley Gate and Standard Life in George Street.

But the report said: “Smaller open-plan offices continue once again to be the most active sector in Edinburgh.”

Recent deals include Knight Frank in Castle Street and Legal-E in George Street.
