SNLA leader in court over bomb plot

THE leader of the Scottish National Liberation Army is facing extradition after allegedly contacting the media claiming bombs had been placed on the Forth Road Bridge.

Adam Busby, 63, appeared at the High Court in Dublin yesterday over the allegations which include threatening to poison Gordon Brown and contaminate the water supplies of English cities.

A judge heard he is wanted on seven charges.

It is claimed Busby made hoax calls to media groups in Edinburgh and Glasgow as well as the Samaritans. He was arrested at his bedsit in Dublin.

There was no bail application and Busby was remanded in custody until July 31.

Busby, originally from Paisley, moved to Ireland in 1980 after orchestrating primitive letter bomb attacks against military sites, oil companies and public figures in Scotland.

Meanwhile, five people are due in court today after being charged with terrorism offences following investigations by the Metropolitan Police’s counter terrorism command. They were charged last night with offences that involved travelling to Pakistan for training between July 2010 and July 2012. A woman was also charged with possessing terrorist material.
