The Scottish Socialist Party is to promote independence at a public meeting in Penicuik Town Hall on Tuesday, August 20.
Party leader Colin Fox will tell the audience that the independence referendum should not be seen as a vote on the First Minister.
He will say that “it is about Scotland’s chance to decide what kind of country we want to live in free from Tory governments, free from the bedroom tax, from Trident nuclear missiles and free from economic and social policies designed in London to penalise Scots”.
The public meeting, titled ‘Why you will be better off with independence’, is the latest in a series of open forums the SSP has hosted across the country.
Sharing the platform with Mr Fox will be Highlands and Islands MSP John Finnie and SSP spokeswoman Sandra Webster.
