Sofa blaze evacuation
RESIDENTS had to be evacuated from a city tenement yesterday after an abandoned sofa was set ablaze outside the building damaging a gas pipe feeding into the flats.
Fire crews from Sighthill attended the incident at Broomhouse Grove and extinguished the burning sofa before ensuring occupants had fled the building.
It is understood a mains gas pipe had been fractured in the fire and Scottish Gas engineers were called out.
