Store’s sales on the level

The Edinburgh branch of department store chain John Lewis has seen sales remain at a similar level to last year.

The St James Centre store’s sales were 0.1 per cent higher in the week to October 22 this year than they had been in the same week of last year.

That puts sales in the first 12 weeks of its financial year 0.8 per cent ahead of this time last year. Across the UK, the company said sales were up four per cent in the week and 2.1 per cent ahead in the year so far.
