CONCERNS over a city takeaway owner locked up in a Saudi Arabian prison have been raised at the Scottish Parliament.

Edinburgh Pentlands MSP Gordon MacDonald asked during First Minister’s Questions if Nicola Sturgeon could intervene to help Kausar Uddin, from Sighthill.

The Evening News revealed on Monday that he had been jailed following a misunderstanding in Mecca.

Ms Sturgeon said: “I am very concerned to hear about Mr Uddin’s situation.”
