An event held in Midlothian to launch a national festival has been hailed a success.
Bookbug Week was launched at Vogrie Park recently and attracted more than double the number who attended last year’s event.
Anna Gibbons, head of early years at Scottish Book Trust said: “We were absolutely delighted to see how many parents and children – about 1,000 in total – attended our flagship Bookbug Week Event at Vogrie Park.
“We so enjoyed seeing families really get into the spirit of the day – taking part in Bookbug Sessions, Catherine Rayner’s wonderful author event, blowing bubbles, having their faces painted and pond dipping.
“A Big Bookbug Adventure was had by all!”
