A PAIR of windswept teenagers have returned to dry land after each completing a section of the Tall Ships Race.
Amy Ronaldson (17), from Newtongrange, and Jonathan Simpson (16), who hails from Gorebridge, earned their ‘sea legs’ after being nominated to take part in the high seas adventure by staff at Newbattle High School.
Amy, who sailed from Lerwick to the Norweigan port of Stavanger, said the ten-day journey had been the most amazing experience of her life.
Jonathan, who spotted dolphins, seals and even a killer whale during his voyage from Stavanger to Halmstad, and then onwards to to Inverness, described the two-week journey as “incredible.”
