The 16-year-old was making her way along a footpath from Pinebank to Dawson Avenue at around 3.30pm on Saturday when an unknown man approached her and pushed her to the ground, before snatching her mobile phone and running off in the direction of Pinebank in Ladybank area.

The man is described as being white, around 30-years-old with short dark hair and wearing grey jogging bottoms with a grey jacket.

Sergeant Graeme Ruddy said: “This was a particularly distressing incident for the victim and we are keen to trace the man as quickly as possible.

“I ask anyone who has any information that can assist with our ongoing enquiries to contact police immediately on 101 or, alternatively the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
