Police are appealing for witnesses after two motorcycles were stolen in Dalkeith.
The owners of the Red BMW R1100 bikes had left them at the Wester Cowden Cottages between 6pm and midnight in Sunday, July 12 while they visited Edinburgh.
However, when they returned, they found their motorcycles were missing and contacted police.
During Sunday evening officers received reports of youths riding recklessly on two motorbikes, which were then spotted within the Woodburn area in the early hours of Monday morning.
Enquiries are continuing to locate the bikes and those responsible for their theft and anyone who can assist police with their investigation is asked to come forward.
Both of the motorcycles have German registration plates.
Constable Fraser Allan said: “The owners of the bikes had been visiting the region from Germany and are very upset at the theft of their vehicles, which are there only mode of transportation.
“Members of the public have already assisted us by reporting sightings of the motorcycles over the past few days and we are keen to hear from anyone who can help us establish their current whereabouts.
“In addition anyone who has information that can assist us to trace those responsible, or who has any other information relevant to this investigation should contact police immediately.”
