Thief stole from mate’s bank account

A THIEF helped himself to the contents of a friend’s bank account after being entrusted with the card and Pin number.

Alexander Morrow had been sent to an ATM to fetch £30 for Terry Cuthbert, but when Ms Cuthbert checked her balance later she was £100 short.

Former heroin addict Morrow, 29, from Livingston, West Lothian, told police he had taken the cash with his friend’s consent, but when he appeared at Livingston Sheriff Court yesterday he pleaded guilty to stealing the money last
September.

Sheriff Martin Edington deferred sentence for good behaviour and gave Morrow until March 14 to save £20 from his benefits.

The sheriff told Morrow: “Providing you do that, I may consider enabling you to pay more by imposing a compensation order. If you don’t, you’ll lose your liberty.”
