Beginners, experienced runners and budding athletes raced around the scenic route at Holyrood Park – many participating for charity while others jogged just for fun.

Organisers said the Great Scottish Walk saw a record number of entrants and more than 200 toddlers took part in the Great Scottish Toddle. The Great Scottish Tattie run was also branded a success.

Terry Crossley, who organised the festival, said: “Everything about the day was just fabulous and we had great weather for the majority of it.

“We had record numbers for the walking event and the Tattie Run was great to watch, although there was a lot of cheating going on. We would like to say a huge thank you to all of our volunteers because without them the day would not have been a success.”
