Three charged over station cannabis haul

THREE men were charged with drug offences after a police swoop at Waverley Station recovered £17,500 worth of herbal cannabis.

Officers from Lothian and Borders Police and British Transport Police (BTP) searched three men who had travelled from England, who were all allegedly found to have quantities of the drug in their possession.

The men, aged 17, 26, and 30, were arrested and charged, and were due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday.

A police spokesman said: “This operation is an excellent example of partnership working between Lothian and Borders Police and British Transport Police, and we will continue to work together to tackle the transportation of drugs into and within the force area.”

A BTP spokesman said: “Drugs have no place on our rail network, and BTP will continue to work with partners to target those who use it to transport illegal substances.”
