Thug jailed over assault
A MAN who assaulted another man whom he suspected of hitting a woman has been jailed for 485 days.
Michael Beattie, 31, repeatedly punched Steffan Robertson at an address in Greendykes Road in September 2011.
Edinburgh Sheriff Court heard that Beattie attacked Mr Robertson after hearing rumours from pals that he had struck a female.
Beattie, who has previous convictions for violence, left Robertson with “severe” facial bruising and a fractured left eye socket. He pleaded guilty to a serious assault charge yesterday.
