A city centre street has been closed due to a drainpipe coming loose above a McDonald's restaurant.

One bystander said that police taped off the street.

An Edinburgh City Council spokeswoman said members of the public can still get along the west side of the street and that workmen look to be finishing up.
Edinburgh Trams said earlier on twitter: "We are currently short running between West End/Shandwick place to the Airport. Apologies for any inconvenience caused."
