The new Nine Month Student Ridacard is aimed at those who may only be in Edinburgh during the academic year and will mean they can purchase discounted travel at the start of the year without having to budget for top-ups throughout their studies.

The card will be available to purchase between now and October 31 and will allow nine months of unlimited travel on Lothian Buses, Airlink, NightBus and Edinburgh Trams for the discounted price of £390.

Nigel Serafini, head of commercial and business development at Lothian Buses, said: “Edinburgh is a popular choice for students and following feedback in previous years, we decided to introduce a product that would be affordable and convenient for use during the academic year.

“We hope that this new product will make life easier for students choosing to study in Edinburgh and the Lothians.”

Feedback over previous years found that students were looking for a card that would cover them for the year, but not for the months when they were likely to be away.
