A WOMAN was taken to hospital this morning after a rush hour accident at Edinburgh's West End.

The 27-year-old pedestrian was involved in a collision with a car in Queensferry Street and suffered a suspected broken ankle.

Police and an ambulance attended the accident.

Witnesses said it looked as if a woman had been knocked down. The accident resulted in temporary traffic hold ups.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Officers attended the report of a road traffic crash in Queensferry Street in Edinburgh involving a female pedestrian and a car at 8.40am this morning. The 27 year old female pedestrian was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by ambulance with a suspected fractured ankle."
