Bilston pedestrians are being drenched by traffic driving through deep puddles at a local crossing.
For months, residents have complained to Midlothian Council asking that the drains and gulleys along the A701 Penicuik to Edinburgh be cleared to allow the water to flow away.
Joy Innes-Grey, who lives at Edwyndale Cottage, close to the pedestrian crossing, said: “The last time we remembered telephoning the council was November and they said they would get round to it. They still haven’t done a thing.”
A Midlothian Council spokesman said: “The gullies on this route were cleaned on November 14, 2010. The crossing was inspected on February 8, 2011, and at the time there was no evidence of standing water following this week’s torrential rain.”
