The number 49 bus service, serving Bonnyrigg, Poltonhall and Rosewell, will be increased to every 20 minutes Monday to Saturday.

This follows a long campaign by Councillor Derek Milligan (Lab) supported by local community groups in Poltonhall and Rosewell.

In September 2015 Lothian Buses announced it was to drop the service from four buses an hour to two. This angered the growing communities of Bonnyrigg, Poltonhall and Rosewell, which depend on this service.

However, it now seems that more than a year and a half of protest from locals has paid off, with three 49 buses set to serve the area every hour from April 23.

Cllr Milligan said: “I would like to congratulate Lothian Buses for listening to local communities.”
