Trams will still be running in this area, but all other traffic, including taxis and buses, will be diverted along George Street and down Frederick Street.

The pavement in this area will also be closed.

A burst water main was fixed by Scottish Water in this area, but has left a depression in the road which needs to now be repaired.

Charles Paul, Project Manager at Scottish Water, said: “Princes Street is an iconic street and one of the Capital’s main thoroughfares and this essential repair work is needed to level a small section of the road where a depression has appeared.

“Given the ongoing Covid-19 lockdown regulations there are far fewer people out and about and most businesses where we will be working remain closed meaning this area will not be as busy as it usually is.

“We ask road users and pedestrians who will be in the area to follow the road traffic management which will be in place and to plan their journeys accordingly.”
