M8 traffic: congestion clearing near Livingston after accident involving car and lorry

Traffic has returned to normal on the westbound M8 after a car and a lorry were involved in an accident at junction 3 near Livingston this morning.

Traffic Scotland had reported an increase in congestion after the incident, which happened at around 7:35am this morning, blocked one of the two lanes on the carriageway.

Police Scotland confirmed that the vehicles had been removed from the tarmac and that both lanes were now open again.

it is understood that there were no injuries in the accident, but that an ambulance was called as a precaution.

Police Scotland said its enquiries into the crash were ongoing.

In an update, the traffic monitor said all lanes were now running on the motorway.
