Traffic is already building on routes into Edinburgh this morning as rain dampens the capital and a Met Office weather warning for snow has come into force.

The M90 is busy southbound from Junction 2 to the Queensferry Crossing.

The M9 is also congested southbound at Newbridge.

Traffic is slowing on the M8 eastbound between Junction 4 Whitburn and Junction 2, while the Edinburgh City Bypass is busy westbound between Gilmerton and Dreghorn.

Drivers are advised to take extra care as there is a Met Office weather warning in place for snow in Edinburgh and the Lothians until 10pm today.

Gritters have been out in force across the country overnight, and areas in the Borders are facing heavy snow this morning.
