Two men have been seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash.

The accident happened this morning at about 8am on the A706 between Whitburn and Bathgate, West Lothian.

The drivers of a Ford Transit flatbed and a Ford Fiesta involved in the accident are currently being treated for serious injuries at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

The driver of the third vehicle, a Renault Traffic van, remains uninjured.

Officers have carried out an investigation in the area.

The road was closed for about four hours this morning while emergency services dealt with the incident.

A police spokesman said: “Police were called around 8.05am this morning Tuesday, 12 May, 2020, following a three vehicle road crash on the A706 between Whitburn and Bathgate, West Lothian.

“Two men, (drivers of Ford Transit flatbed and Ford Fiesta) were seriously injured and taken by ambulance Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

“The driver of a third vehicle, a Renault Traffic van, was not injured. The road was closed for officers to carry out investigations and re-opened at 12.50pm.”
