Two women and their dogs rescued from Cramond Island

Two women and their dogs had to be rescued from Cramond Island after they got stuck when the tide came in.

A lifeboat was sent out at about 2.45pm when the alarm was raised for the stranded pair.

A coastguard spokesman said: “The tide came in and the two women and their two dogs could not make it back to the mainland.

“A lifeboat from Queensferry coastguard assisted with bringing them back to the beach.”

It is understood the police were not involved.
