A WELL-known Newtongrange woman has died aged 49 after battling cancer.
Susan Young (nee Green) was a nurse for many years at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and also played an active role in Newtongrange during the miners’ strike of 1984, despite only being a teenager.
Her father, former councillor and Newbattle High English teacher Jim Green, paid tribute to his daughter: “The amount of people that turned up at her funeral last week said it all. It was a testament to the kind of person she was. She was much loved and will be sadly missed.”
