UK’s youngest mum admits fraud charge

A TEENAGER who became known as Britain’s youngest mum has admitted a fraud charge.

Tressa Middleton, 18, was caught as she tried to pay a £500 cheque into her bank account, but a suspicious teller in the Royal Bank of Scotland in Bathgate, West Lothian, challenged the transaction.

A probe found that the signature of James Mowbury – whose name was on the cheque – had been forged.

She pleaded guilty at Livingston Sheriff Court to committing the offence on August 22 last year. She also admitted breaching a bail undertaking failing to turn up at court when the case was called.

Middleton fell pregnant at the age of 11 and is currently expecting her second child. Sentence was deferred for reports.
