Sarah O’Galagher, prosecuting, said he was stopped by police in Polkemmet Road, Whitburn, on July 10 this year.

Bage pleaded guilty to having 56 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, above the 35mg legal limit. He also admitted having no licence or insurance. He was fined a £580 and banned from driving for a year.

In a separate case, a motorist who was almost three times the limit was banned for two years and sentenced to 135 hours of community service yesterday.

Craig Scott, 25, of Linlithgow, pleaded guilty to driving with a blood alcohol count of 220mg – the legal limit is 80mg – on the B9080 on October 31 last year.
