Unison on the move to new offices

PUBLIC sector trade union Unison is to relocate its Edinburgh branch to a new office.

The branch is moving to the renovated former Infirmary Baths, now partly occupied by tapestry firm Dovecot Studios, on Infirmary Street.

Its move from its existing offices, which are on George IV Bridge, is due to take place on August 26.

The branch is leasing the second floor at 10 Infirmary Street.

Unison Edinburgh officials said on their branch website: “The office meets all of the branch criteria in that it is on several bus routes, there is local parking, it is DDA [Disability Discrimination Act] compliant and it is within easy reach of the main Council HQ buildings and City Chambers.”

The B-listed baths were transformed into the new offices by Edinburgh-based Malcolm Fraser Architects, with the project being completed in January 2009.
