Big crowds turned out in Newtongrange on Saturday for the annual Children’s Gala Day, which included a colourful parade through the village.
The gala day committee’s chairperson Denise Gillies said: “It was good. A great success. The streets were lined with people for the parade and the park was heaving.
“The children were excellent, no problems at all.
“The weather was dull. But it was warm and it was dry.
“The new layout in the park went down well. The parade was good as well. We have had good feedback. Which makes it all worthwhile.
“The kids had a ball and everybody seemed to enjoy themselves in the park.
“It was great to see all the smiling faces. And I’m proud of the gala court, they were fantastic.”
