Vion urged to donate axed Hall’s plant in Broxburn

DUTCH-OWNED food giant Vion is being urged to donate the site of the Hall’s of Broxburn meat factory to help with the regeneration of West Lothian’s economy.

The plant is due to close within the next few weeks with the loss of 1700 jobs.

West Lothian Council leader John McGinty said: “It is vital that Vion realises it has a corporate responsibility to West Lothian and uses the opportunity to clear and transfer the land as a legacy to its loyal workforce.”

Vion said it was giving the request “careful consideration”.
