PARENTS have criticised Midlothian Council’s decision to open all schools on Monday after being closed for a week due to heavy snowfall.
Pupils had been kept home for a week before the council decided to re-open all 37 primary, secondary and special schools on Monday morning.
But further snowfall led to buses being cancelled and people abandoning cars with many major routes at a standstill. Many parents expressed concern about how to get their children home from school via the council’s Facebook page.
At lunchtime on Monday, Kelly Parry posted: “There are now no buses for parents to go collect their kids. Midlothian Council should have took the decision to close schools hours ago! The snow wasn’t unexpected, it had clearly been forecast!”
