Edinburgh residents are to enjoy a spell of warm weather this week as temperatures are set to rise into the 20s across the Central Belt.

The Capital will see highs of 21 to 22 degrees on Friday with a weekend of clear blue skies to follow.

The Met Office says the Lothians are expected to see long, dry, sunny spells throughout today and tomorrow. Wednesday will see more cloudy weather while Thursday is expected to be dry with sunny intervals, best on the coast.

Friday is currently going to be the warmest day in Edinburgh this week with temperatures rising to 21 degrees and a dry, sunny weekend to follow.

Most of the UK cities will experience this bout of warm weather including Fort William, London, Carlisle and Glasgow which are expecting to see temperatures rise to 21 and 22 degrees this week.
