Edinburgh is forecast to be mostly cloudy throughout the day, with some outbreaks of heavy rain in the afternoon, and some snow over higher ground.

This evening will remain cloudy, with some light rain and drizzle in parts. Heavier rain will reach Galloway by midnight, before spreading to all areas overnight.

Hide AdThe Met Office has advised that a band of rain and hill snow will move north eastwards this afternoon, turning heavier at times.
Wintry showers are expected to bring snow to lower levels, resulting in up to 3cm of snow on roads above 200 metres elevation and up to 8cm on roads above 350 metres.
There may be a temporary slushy cover on the roads for a short time at lower levels, which could lead to some transport delays.
The wet and snowy conditions will die off heading into this evening, with temperatures falling to a chilly 2C.
